I do believe that there were more women this year, then last.

From what I remember, there were a lot more women here than last year. Maybe even double. Good to see that the brutes didn't drive them away. :-)

Jessi, Ilithya, & Westi - This is amazing! Within a couple of hours of posting a photo, the people in the photo find it. I love that! The internet is a wonderful thing.

I'm glad you all like the photo. Sorry you're not visible, Jessi. You can blame Ilithya for leaning forward. ;)

Although women were still the minority, I do believe that there were more women this year, then last. Maybe at Wordcamp '08 it will even-out.

That's awesome that you want to get more involved, Jessi. Wordpress is a great platform, and has a really great community behind it.

I totally agree, Westi. Blogging is an equal-opportunity form of communication. Everyone gets a voice. Oh, and I think I lost 5 pounds from the heat... not that that's a bad thing. :)

Happy blogging!

Hi Paul,
Thank you so much for sharing your superb photography here.

The woman in this photo is me. We discussed at length during the conference the roles women play in blogging and wished there were even more of us in attendance. Blogging is such a great level field of opportunity for storytelling, sharing of knowledge, and all other things where sex/race/money/education fall by the wayside.

-Westi

P.S. Thanks for making me look so composed. I felt like I was sweating to death and thought I was going to fall backwards off of that wooden stand (straight into the stairwell). A true sign of a good photographer! =)

Thanks for posting this! You can't see me but I was the third woman behind these two. The three of us expected to see more women than we did - women were a minority, although sizeable.

We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and I for one plan to get a bit more involved with the WordPress community. I might help a little with docs, do a screencast or something. I've caught the WP community spirit.

This is my geekout year - I got to attend Google Developer Day as well. That was cool too, though I didn't catch the same kind of evangelistic fever.
